“From Kitchen to Kingdom: Where Passion Turns into Power, Identity, and Income.”
Since childhood, we often hear one common sentence:
“Girls should be in the kitchen.”
At first, it sounds like a limitation. It feels like a boundary that defines where we belong and
what we are expected to do. Many of us grow up believing that being in the kitchen means doing
something small, something that stays within the walls of the house and goes unnoticed by the
outside world.
I believed the same for a long time.
I thought cooking was just a responsibility. Something we do daily without thinking much about
it. It felt like a routine that had no bigger meaning beyond feeding ourselves and our families.
But slowly, my perspective started changing.
I began to notice that the kitchen was not just a place of work. It was a place of creation. A place
where something simple could turn into something meaningful.
That’s when a thought came to me:
What if being in the kitchen is not a limitation?
What if it is actually a strength?
And that one thought changed everything.
1. Seeing the Kitchen in a New Way
The kitchen is often seen as a place of duty. A place where women are expected to cook, serve,
and move on. But when we look deeper, we can see that it is much more than that.
Every dish we prepare involves thinking, planning, and creativity. We decide what to cook, how
to cook, and how to make it better each time. We adjust flavors, try new ideas, and learn from
every mistake.
That itself is a skill.
But the problem is, we are so used to doing it every day that we don’t recognise its value. We
think it is “normal,” something that doesn’t need appreciation.
When I started looking at the kitchen in a new way, I realised that it is not just a place where we
cook. It is a place where we create something from nothing.
And creation always has value.
2. From Cooking to Creating
Earlier, I used to cook just to complete a task. It was part of my daily routine, and I didn’t think
much about it.
But slowly, something changed.
I started enjoying the process. I became more curious. I began trying new dishes, experimenting
with ingredients, and paying attention to how things looked and tasted.
I started noticing the small details — the color of the dish, the way it was plated, the way flavors
blended together.
Without even realising it, I was no longer just cooking.
I was creating.
That’s when I took a small but important step — I started sharing my work.
At first, it felt simple. Just posting a picture, writing a few lines, and moving on. But that one
small step opened a completely new path for me.
3. Turning Passion into Opportunity
When I started sharing my food, I never thought about earning from it. I was just expressing
myself.
But over time, I began to understand something important.
The things we do every day… can also become opportunities.
Cooking is not just a household activity anymore. Today, it can become something much bigger.
It can become a blog where we share recipes and stories.
It can become a content page where we connect with people.
It can become a personal brand that reflects who we are.
It can even become a business that generates income.
Many women are already doing this. They are building something meaningful from their
everyday skills.
That’s when I realised — we don’t need to learn something completely new to grow.
Sometimes, we just need to see what we already know… in a new way.
4. Yes, We Are in the Kitchen — But We Are Also Growing
People still say, “Girls belong in the kitchen.”
Today, I see that sentence differently.
Yes, we are in the kitchen.
But we are not limited there.
We are growing from there.
The kitchen is no longer just a place of routine work. It has become a place where we learn,
experiment, and build something of our own.
We are learning new skills every day.
We are improving with every dish.
We are gaining confidence with every step.
And most importantly, we are creating something that belongs to us.
The same space that was once seen as small is now becoming a space of growth and opportunity.
5. The Challenges No One Sees
This journey may look simple from the outside, but it is not always easy.
Behind every post, there is effort.
There are days when we feel tired and don’t have the energy to create anything new. There are
days when ideas don’t come, and we feel stuck.
Sometimes, we put a lot of effort into a recipe or a post, but it doesn’t reach many people. It feels
like our work is not being noticed.
There are moments of doubt. We compare ourselves with others. We question if we are doing
enough.
But these challenges are part of the journey.
They do not mean we are failing. They only mean we are growing.
What matters is that we don’t stop.
