Vinod’s global collection is equally fascinating. From the portraits of American presidents Washington and Lincoln, to coins commemorating America’s moon landing and the bicentennial of Independence, his collection captures historic global milestones. He also possesses Pakistan’s first currency, coins from Bangladesh, East and West Germany, Spain’s 1982 FIFA World Cup, and rare holed French coins from the 1930s–40s. His collection spans countries like South Africa, Australia, Canada, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Yugoslavia, Turkey, and more.
His coins have been lovingly acquired from jewellers, fellow collectors, friends involved in archaeological excavations, and local sellers. To deepen his understanding of numismatics, Vinod has taught himself several Indian languages—Bengali, Malayalam, Assamese, Punjabi, Gujarati—along with the ancient Brahmi script. He has also learned modern scripts used in Russia, Germany, Thailand, and Myanmar.
An M.A. graduate with distinction in Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology, Vinod even wrote his dissertation on Early Medieval Indian Coins and Monetary Issues, reflecting his scholarly engagement with the world he cherishes.
