Last Chapter
On the basis of Vinayak’s salary, the family which used to eat Basmati rice every day, started living by eating cheap rice.
Smita was not liking all this. She not only had to look after Vinayak but also had to take care of the entire family. After hearing from close acquaintances, he got Ratan employed in Cool Down Company. When Ratan’s income from his job started increasing, Smita hired a maid to do the household work and started devoting time to writing. Emerging from the valley of pain and difficulties, his literature gradually started touching new heights. Earlier she could write only one or two paragraphs every day. But after some time it became a habit, and she started writing a story every day. She would send it to be published in local newspapers or good newspapers and magazines in Delhi. Gradually her writing gained momentum and she started dictating to Ragini and getting her stories written on her laptop.
Vinayak, who is on bed rest, sees every day how Smita wakes up early in the morning and takes care of him. Provides him with medicines, nutritious food, water, etc. Then, whenever she had free time, she sat down to write. Gradually, he started making interesting videos of his life and uploading them on YouTube. As Smita became famous, her social media network grew and her writing work started touching new heights. Within ten months he had more than one lakh fans and followers.
With the passage of time, due to excellent medical care, Vinayak’s condition started improving rapidly. As years passed, he started standing on his feet and his plaster cast was also removed. He further improved his health and working capacity by doing exercises etc. After this, he started working in another company and started going to office.
Amidst all these favorable circumstances, finally, the day came in Smita’s life for which she had been waiting for a long time. He was selected by the state government for the biggest literary award, Sahitya Nidhi. When Smita’s name was called to receive this award of five lakh rupees on the birth anniversary of Munshi Premchand, Smita’s family members along with the countless public present at the place of honor were thrilled. Smita had tears in her eyes while taking the award from the hands of the Chief Minister. After this, he was called on the stage to say a few words. On this occasion Smita said.
Smita – I dedicate this award to my father and in-laws. Neither did these people oppose me nor did the desire to show something by writing become stronger in my mind. It was because of their opposition that my desire got new wings and even though Vinayak’s accident increased the difficulties, the cooperation of my family members opened the way to overcome those difficulties. I couldn’t do anything on my own. It is all because of his blessings that I was able to become capable of this.
Hearing this, apart from everyone else present at the venue, Komal Singh’s eyes were filled with tears. When Smita came down with the award, he could not control his emotions. His tearful eyes said a lot but only this could come out of his mouth.
Komal Singh – Well done! Daughter! You turned out to be a true son of a lion. You accomplished what you set out to do! We are proud of you!
After this, he hugged his daughter and said in a hoarse voice – Forgive me, Daughter! I underestimated your talent!
Smita – Papa! What are you saying? You had given me practical advice to dedicate myself to managing the household. But father, difficult circumstances showed me a new path! It is the result of your blessings that all these difficulties were solved and life also became better.
Words came out of Smita’s mouth incoherently.
Vinayak also could not control himself and said – Smita! Today you have proved that if a woman has the courage and passion to do something, she can break the shackles of family life and take a new flight. Now you open your wings further. And take new flights every day. Really, how wrong we were, who was suppressing your ability and weakening it by tying it to the bonds of family life? From today onwards I will try to do as much of my work as possible myself. I troubled you for so long, I’m sorry, dear! You have surprised us all with your achievement!
When Smita felt that the impulse of emotions was increasing and the atmosphere was becoming serious, she immediately interrupted and said – Whatever happened, happened for the good! Let us all cool down and drink Coke in this happiness!
On hearing this, the clouds of seriousness dispersed and bursts of laughter erupted. After this, Smita and all her family members headed towards Tapti restaurant for a grand celebration.
